Book Review: The Truth About You & Me by Amanda Grace

Publication Date: September 8th, 2013

3/3.5 stars

This book is the story of a 16 year old girl and her relationship with her college professor who is 25 years old. (she's in one of those college credit programs) Anyways, this story is written in the form of a letter to him and to "them" who are her parents and the cops.

Now this book is like re-watching a train-wreck. You know that it ended badly because she's having to write this letter, but you just can't stop watching the train-wreck occur. I couldn't stop reading.

This book made me mostly angry and sad. I should start off by saying that I disliked the main character so much (but I think that was the point), I couldn't believe that she kept all of these lies for so long. I knew that at the end he would find out the truth, but I did not expect to feel so angry and sad and upset for him. God I was so freaking heartbroken for this guy. Just the situation this girl put him in...it was odd because I didn't sympathize for the girl, at all. I feel like the guy was the victim in this. Which is a very interesting way to view this kind of situation.

That it was written as letters was very interesting, and the story was completely fast-paced but it also felt very short.

So overall, I disliked the girl, I wanted to slap her while reading, but the ending made me bump it up half a star. I didn't expect it to make me feel the way I did, which was mostly anger and sadness...and yes I cried...but I'm a crier so don't judge me!
